We’re jammin’
Heya I haven’t been here in a while. And it shows, as I type this I have to hit the backspace button several times just to get this sentence correctly.
So why haven’t I been around this time? JAM Asia 2007. It was so much better (read: shorter) than last year’s. I’m a little nervous for next year because I know I will be one of a very few people who are left. It seems as though everyone is graduating. I believe the whole e-board is graduating except for me. The lowly graphic designer. With some high ambitions for next year.
So lemme give you some funny/weird/odd insight from this year:
+ What does snap mean? One girl told another to snap a button closed on her outfit. The girl rips the button out. Now as a boy, I still don’t see the correct definition of “snap” I mean I thought one would “snap” a bra on. So I assumed it meant connect. Now I guess said girl thought of it as “rip off.”
+ Signage funnies – There were several fliers I made for the weeks events. One involved a very model-esque ginseng root. It was seen by e-board. I got mixed reactions so I never used it for around campus. It did end up on facebook though.
+ Last minute fashion – Poor Joe. He volunteered to do the “Shirts Remade” scene and Stephanie never made him anything. So with 10 minutes until the show I cut up a shirt and took off the sleeves, cut some parts and put safety pins, and made him a headband and a glovey-thing. He being smart kinda did a “Ryu” (Street Fighter) pose. But one would never know that the shirt was made in panic. Go Paz!
+ That looks the same – Min used the same outfit from last year. The outfit was Cloud from Final Fantasy 7. He used it in “Fashion Around the world” last year. This year he used it for “East meets West.” No I didn’t make the names.
+ Totally different – The model walk for the Deluxe scene was made a few hours before the show. Don’t ask.
+ Harold & Kumar – There was one video scene where Phuong fell off a banister. He actually did it three times. The second time he thought we were actually shooting so he got into it and actually kinda got injured. He recovered for one more shot. Also candy is hard. And flying candy…not so funny.
+ Never seen on the show - I actually have one shot of Shino modeling for the shirts remade scene. She didn't model it in the end. Miki did. She had to dance in the next scene so she couldn't change fast enough.
That's it for now. Hopefully you liked the update this time.
- Paz.
